Marcos Leonardo has been involved in seven of Santos’ last eight goals this season

Santos are trying at all costs to keep Marcos Leonardo in this transfer window. The striker has received an offer from Roma and wants to leave, but it is of enormous importance to Peixe, who has already stated that he will not release him.

The striker was the star of this season for Alvinegro Praiano. Unsurprisingly, he’s been involved in seven of the club’s last eight goals. There are six balls in the net and one assist in the last six games.

The last player to score for Santos other than Marcos Leonardo was Stiven Mendoza, in a 4-3 win over Goiás on 9 July. Since then, only the number 9 shirt has filled the net.

In 19 rounds of the Brazilian championship, Peixe scored 19 goals. Of those, seven were scored by the 20-year-old striker. That is, he is responsible for 36.8% of the team’s goals.

Marcos Leonardo has spent a week without training with the Alvinegro Praiano team due to negotiations with Roma. On Tuesday he returned to activity and should be available against Grêmio.

Santos will receive the Tricolor Gaúcho next Sunday, at 16:00 (Brasilia time), for the 20th round of the Brazilian championship.

Peixe are currently in 17th place in the tournament, with 18 points, as are Bahia, who are the first team out of the relegation zone. Grêmio is third, with 33.
