Leila Pereira will ‘pay’ for Palmeiras’ trip to the Libertadores

Palmeiras will use its “main reinforcement” in Libertadores. This is because Verdão has the club president, Leila Pereira, buy the plane to go directly to Pereira, the Colombian city where the first quarter-final of the continental competition will be played.

In recent days, in fact, the club has asked for quotes from various airlines to understand the best travel options. The cost of a direct trip to Pereira would be approximately R $ 1.2 million. This was the offer of the only company interested in renting in the Colombian city.

However, the consulted company offered a plane with only 50 seats, preventing the accommodation of the entire Palmeiras delegation. By way of comparison, the aircraft purchased by Leila Pereira has a capacity of 96 people.

Another alternative for Palmeiras was to take a plane to Cali, a city located 220 kilometers from Pereira, where the match will be played. Therefore, Verdão would have to travel another three hours on a bus. Something the coaching staff wants to avoid, due to player wear.

Lacking viable options, Palmeiras opted to use the plane bought by President Leila Pereira for the trip. The delegation will leave Guarulhos on Monday with a direct flight to Pereira, non-stop and with an expected duration of six hours. Since the company created by Leila Pereira for chartering flights does not yet have a license to operate commercially, the president will bear all the costs of the trip.

Leila Pereira’s travels by plane

Verdão has already debuted the aircraft on an away trip to Rio de Janeiro, in a duel against Fluminense for Brasileirã, and is expected to use the aircraft again to travel to Cuiabá, before facing Deportivo Pereira, for Libertadores. The draw against Dourado is this weekend.
