Netflix has released the official teaser of the anime of Scott Pilgrim takes off, based on the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley, who writes the screenplay for the series. In addition, the animation received a premiere date – November 17th.
The eight-episode series will follow director Edgar Right’s romantic action comedy, Scott Pellegrino vs. The world.
The comic centers on Scott, an unmotivated musician and member of the rock group Sex Bom-omb, who falls in love with Ramona Flowers, starting a troubled relationship. That’s because Scott needs to fight her character’s seven troubled ex-boyfriends to win her over.
The teaser doesn’t show much of the plot, but we can see a lot of visuals mixed with a lot of characteristic music from the film by Wright, who is part of the production team of the series.
The anime features the same team of actors from the 2010 film voicing their respective characters.
In addition to Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who will voice leads Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers, voiceovers are provided by Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim), Brie Larson (Envy Adams), Alison Pill (Kim Pine), Aubrey Plaza (Julie Powers), Johnny Simmons (Neil), Mark Webber (Stephen Stills), Ellen Wong (Knives Chau). The League of Evil Exes starring Satya Bhabha, Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman and Mae Whitman.
The soundtrack is produced by the band Anamanaguchi, who composed original songs for the series.
