Apple TV+ has revealed what its new Godzilla series will be called, as well as the first images and the official production synopsis, which will expand Legendary’s “Monsterverse” beyond the big screen.

The new series will be called “Monarch – Legacy of Monsters” and will have ten episodes. Check out the official synopsis below:
After the massive battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” follows two brothers who follow in their father’s footsteps to discover their family’s connection to the secret organization known as Monarch. . The clues lead them into the world of monsters and army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell) in two time periods: the 1950s and half a century later, when Monarch is threatened for what Shaw knows . The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and how epic and earth-shattering events can impact our lives.
From the synopsis, the plot appears to take place after the 2014 film “Godzilla,” which left San Francisco in a dire state, as well as the 1950s, after the early days of the mysterious Monarch group.
The series was co-developed by “Severance” producer Chris Black and “Hawkeye” star Matt Fraction. Also in the cast are Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.
Apple has yet to say when the series will hit its streaming catalog. But with the name and images out, it seems likely that a trailer and release date won’t be long in coming.

Until then, the “Monsterverse” was a franchise centered around a series of films, starring the monsters Godzilla and King Kong, distributed by Warner Bros and produced by Legendary in partnership with Toho.
