Two years after the titanic battle against King Kong, Godzilla returns to serial format. The Apple TV+ platform announced it in January 2022, and the first images have finally arrived. Entitled Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, it stands as a direct sequel to 2018’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
In its press release, Apple’s platform reveals a lengthy synopsis along the lines of: “After a thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that destroys San Francisco and the shocking revelation that the monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters” follows two brothers in their father’s footsteps to reveal their family’s ties to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
“Clues lead them to a world of monsters and eventually to the parallel world of army officer Lee Shaw, set in the 1950s and half a century later, where the monarch is threatened by Shaw’s knowledge. This dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and how epic and life-changing events can reverberate through our lives..”

The project looks promising and gigantic at the height of the creature. The father and son in the story are played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, who are actually father and son in real life. Among them are Anna Savai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Marie Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.
The program was created by Chris Black (Severance) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye). Matt Shakman, director of the WandaVision series, will direct the first two episodes.
This series proves that the world around Monarch Monsters continues to expand. Sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong is currently in post-production. Titled Godzilla x King: The New Empire, it is expected to be released on March 14, 2024 in France.
The Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series does not have a release date yet.
