Weili Zhang explains strategy for facing Amanda Lemos at UFC 282

The Chinese will defend the UFC straw belt this weekend

Weili Zhang will defend his UFC strawweight belt this Saturday (19) against Amanda Lemos, in Boston (USA). Another chance for the Chinese to show her reasons for being one of the great fighters in MMA today.

And the champion already has in mind how to face the fight against the Brazilian to continue to be the mistress of the division. On the UFC 292 ‘media day’, the fighter even called upon an allusion to a motto associated with Bruce Lee (“be like water”) to state that she will do anything to seek another win.

– Amanda is a very good fighter, I admit it. She is aggressive and her fighting style has great knockout power. But me too. And I want to show more in this fight, I want to be like water – said Weili Zhang,

– I can fight with movement, calmly and without stress. I can be like water and I just wrap it. If Amanda makes a mistake, I can take her and beat her – concluded the Chinese.

Headlining some of the UFC’s most notable fights in recent years, Weili Zhang once again finds himself with his fight in a position he’s not in the “main event” of the Ultimate Cards, and possibly with his fight without the promotion desired in the face of more attractive fights in this Saturday’s event. This, however, doesn’t bother her, as her goal is to continue consolidating her country’s interest in MMA.

– I don’t feel ‘despised’. What I feel is that there are many people who are interested in my fight, especially in China. Many people will follow my fight and want to watch me there. Here in the States, maybe they wanted to see (Aljamain) Sterling fight Sean (O’Malley). But I feel that there are many people who want to see our fight – he commented.
