How was the cancellation of Primavera Sound São Paulo in 2024?
On August 30, 2024, the organization of the Primavera Sound announced that the editions scheduled in Latin America — in Buenos Aires and São Paulo, specifically — would not take place in 2024 due to “external difficulties that prevent us from holding the events at the level that the public that supports us so much deserves”.
Alfonso Lanzadirector of Primavera Soundsaid at the time that this was “undoubtedly a difficult decision, taken after many months of work and after going through several paths to be able to execute these events with guarantees, especially in the current situation of challenges in the music industry. Once all possibilities have been exhausted, we have to be prudent and now put all our energy into future plans.”
“We want to thank our local partners for their dedication and effort, who demonstrated their invaluable support for a project that we continue to believe in due to its cultural value and the expansion of musical routes in Latin America, something that we consider positive for all parties involved in the process, from fans to artists,” added the executive.
The note ended with the expression of the “conviction and hope that the Primavera Sound come back stronger to Latin America, we are already looking to the future to make this happen as quickly as possible.”
We thank you for your support since day one. We continue working to see each other again as soon as possible. #PrimaveraSoundSãoPaulo pic.twitter.com/Cx4ZtRTVmr
