It is natural that when we like something, we increasingly want to consume content related to that work, be it a direct continuation, adaptations or parallel stories. And in the case of One Piece, there is no shortage of content to consume after seeing the adaptation made by Netflix, given that both the manga and the anime already have more than a thousand chapters, not counting films and specials. Among the many available contents, check out which path you can follow after adaptation.
Revisit knowledge
Being an adaptation, the Netflix series ends up not following the events of the manga and anime in an absolutely faithful way, despite being faithful to the original material, after all not even the anime follows the manga in a completely faithful way.
The series adapts the entire East Blue arc of One Piece, keeping in mind that it might be interesting to revisit the same arc, both in the manga and the anime, to check the differences and similarities between the materials.
Continuing the adventure of the anime
Another option to continue consuming the Straw Hat adventures would be to watch the anime directly from where the series left off. As mentioned, the live action series is an adaptation of One Piece, so even with some differences the story itself is still there. The series also had the supervision of Eiichiro Oda, the author of the original work, so it is to be imagined that the material would be followed faithfully, with subtle changes that would not in any way alter the story to be told.
With all of this in mind, instead of reading or watching One Piece and consuming the same story all over again, you can continue from the sequel arc to East Blue, which in this case would be the Alabasta arc, which begins in episode 62 of the anime, already introducing more about the world of One Piece, previously introduced new characters.
Exploring the manga
Another way forward is to continue the work where it left off, just through the chapters of the manga. The advantage in this case is that it is completely original material thought by Eiichiro Oda, since the drawings and the present story are totally idealized by him, unlike the anime which tends to undergo slight modifications and to contain fillers, which are episodes which add nothing to the original story and weren’t initially featured in the manga.
If you choose to explore the manga directly, it is important to know that the first 100 chapters correspond to the entire arc of East Blue, which was adapted by Netflix into its live action. From there, we have the beginning of the Alabasta arc and a whole new story for those of you who have only seen the One Piece series.
Leaving for the movies and specials
With its resounding success, it’s only natural that One Piece will be explored in different ways, with different media. Over the years, numerous animated films and special episodes have been released in the work, which can be excellent content for those who want to consume more One Piece after watching the Live Action, that’s why films and special episodes, for the most part, they tend to be filler, i.e. their events are not part of the real timeline of the story.
This is good because these tend to be closed stories and feature characters that only have an impact in that moment. After watching the adaptation, it might be a good idea to look at the corresponding films of the East Blue arc, which in this case would be the One Piece: The Great Gold Pirate films, which was the first feature film of the work and also the movie One Piece: The Adventure on Nejimaki Island.
Both films carry the characters presented in this introductory arc of the work and feature complete adventures for any first-time fan to watch.
After watching the live action adaptation of One Piece, there is no shortage of content options to consume, being able to revisit the story in different formats, or even literally starting where you left off but going the anime or manga route, not to mention the amount of movies available. Here the important thing is to satisfy the desire to know more about the One Piece universe and its characters.
