Taika Waititi has opened up about his ideas for a possible sequel to Thor: Love and Thunder, which has yet to be confirmed.
Thor: Love and Thunder is a classic example of love and hate between Marvel fans. With mixed reviews, the film also did well at the box office, but Taika Waititi’s slapstick style was not liked much. The film currently has just 63% approval on Rotten Tomatoes – that doesn’t mean, however, that the story of the Norse god is over: Waititi already has plans for a possible sequel to the hero in the MCU.
In the book Thor: Love and Thunder The Official Movie SpecialTaika spoke about what he would like to bring to Thor 5: “It has to be something that follows the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way, giving him things to deal with that seem to build the obstacles that he has to overcome”.
The director also highlighted the concern of bringing in an even bigger villain than HI, the goddess of death played by Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok. “I don’t think we can have a villain that’s weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to move from there and add a villain that’s somehow more formidable.” Waititi even promised “ever more bizarre and insane beasts, monsters and aliens” in the character’s fifth solo film.
