You will surely remember the Harry Potter saga, with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Harry, Ron and Hermione starred in eight feature films that allowed viewers to watch them grow up on screen from 11 and 12 to 22 and 23 years old. But each of the films featured an actor whose career was cut short. And his name is Harry Melling.



His name might not sound familiar if you don’t know Harry Potter inside and out, but he played the ditzy and moody cousin of the young hero, Dudley Dursley, who lived at 4 Privet Drive.

A character who was often mean and laughed at, mainly due to his weight, Dudley was limited to just one acting role, and Harry Melling decided he would not make a career out of it.




The actor lost so much weight between episodes 5 and 7 of the saga – he wasn’t present in film 6 – that he had to wear prosthetics and a padded suit in Deathly Hallows Part 1 to (barely) hide his new appearance.
