“Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a raccoon?” This actor turned down Guardians of the Galaxy

What if Gamora had a different face? Comedian Amanda Seyfried endorsed the podcast in December 2020 HollywoodReporter That Marvel Studios offered him the role of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy. But here we were at the beginning of 2013, and James Gunn’s film was still not destined to be a huge success. The Mamma Mia actor recalls:

I didn’t want to be part of the first Marvel to fail. I was thinking “Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a raccoon?” Which was… I was totally wrong.

At the time, we must remember that few knew Groot, Drax, Star-Lord or Rocket Raccoon, and the film seemed like a completely improbable and financially very risky project. Seyfried continues:

The script was good, I just didn’t want to be “that person”. Because if you’re the star of a giant box office smash, Hollywood won’t forgive you. I have seen this happen to others and it was one of my biggest fears. I wondered if it was really worth it.

That’s why Amanda Seyfried missed five appearances in the MCU: three movies Guardians of the Galaxy As well as Avengers 3 and 4. His decision apparently pleased Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora in the Marvel Universe. She was the one who spent two to three hours in makeup every day of the shoot to get the green skin of this alien superheroine.
