The box office success of Barbie has secured the launch of an IMAX version that will contain previously unseen scenes from September 22 in the US and other countries to be determined.
The announcement was made by Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution, and Andrew Cripps, president of international distribution:
If anything was missing from Barbie’s winning strategy, it was the ability to put Greta’s singular vision on premium IMAX screens in the super competitive summer lane. The fact that ‘Barbie’ continues to sell out worldwide in its sixth weekend of release demonstrates the quality of the film and the audience’s enthusiasm for the story.
