Dune: part 2 has been pushed back to next year due to strikes by actors and writers, which still don’t have an expiration date.
As reported by VarietyLegendary Entertainment (co-producer of the film) and Warner Bros. Film Group had to agree to postpone the release, scheduled for November, to March 15, 2024.
In addition to the film based on the science fiction book by writer Frank Herbert, Warner had to postpone Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire from 15 March to 12 April 2024 e The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrimwhich took place from 12 April to 13 December.
Amid Hollywood shutdown, the sequel to Dune would be hampered by the inability to organize promotional events for the film. Actors associated with the actors’ union (SAG-SAG-AFTRA) cannot participate in advertising or premiere initiatives.
second Hollywood Reportersinsiders are hopeful that this additional release time will allow the (star-studded) cast to participate in the initially planned worldwide marketing efforts.
The cast of Dune: Part 2 includes such famous Hollywood actors as Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista and others.
Dune, released in 2021, achieved a box office of 402 million dollars worldwide, approximately R$ 1.9 billion.
