Murillo, from Corinthians, is close to negotiating with Nottingham

Although Corinthians played hard to retain defender Murillo, the young player could leave Timão soon. The player is close to a deal with English side Nottingham Forest, who have offered €13m to sign the 21-year-old defender. The information was given by the journalist Jorge Nicola.

Corinthians own 80% of Murillo’s economic rights, thus being able to retain BRL 55 million for a possible sale on these terms. There remains the possibility of a bonus of over 3 million euros, to be paid in the future in case of goals beaten. The defender also aroused the interest of Napoli and Fiorentina, both Italian, but the harassment of these clubs did not go that far.

Nottingham have already agreed with midfielders Danilo and Andrey Santos, formerly of Palmeiras and Vasco respectively. Previously, the team already had Gustavo Scarpa on staff, but the midfielder left the club for Greek football. This time around the English outfit keep their eyes on the Brazilian market and the good performances of Murillo, who turned professional this year, have attracted attention.

With 27 matches played for Timão, Murillo became one of the common figures in Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s team. He is in charge of central defence, alongside more experienced players, such as Gil, who has been with the club for a decade. Timão, in turn, will play this Saturday (26) against Goiás, at 21, for the Brasileirão.
