Dry Weather Relief: Rain is gaining strength in the Region and the accumulation may exceed the average for the month
This week a strong maritime infiltration on the southeast coast will intensify the formation of numerous rain clouds in the east of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The rain between Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th may be persistent, accumulating extremely high volumes for August. Heavy rains are expected between Baixada Santista and the Angra dos Reis region on the south coast of Rio de Janeiro.
Attention! We’ve already had a very choppy weekend off the coasts of both states and there are still indications for more rainfall that could exceed the normal August average. The risk of unrest increases and the population must be very careful and ask for help and indications from the civil protection.
Part of the southeast will have a very humid last week of August. Cities in eastern and southern Minas Gerais can also experience high accumulations during this period. The trend is for thunderstorms this Monday in the Jequitinhonha Valley. The instability also strengthens in Espírito Santo, the capital Vitória, on alert for the risk of thunderstorms and cities such as Linhares and São Mateus can also record high accumulations of rain.

August ends wet and cold
Another strong point in addition to the rain is the significant drop in temperatures. All the capitals of the South-East will record a more significant decrease in both minimum and maximum temperatures. After several consecutive hot days, the thermometers in the city of São Paulo will not exceed 16/22°C in the next few days. The city of Rio de Janeiro will also feel the impact of cloudier weather and cold air, highs will be around 20-24°C, at least until the middle of this week.
Over the next few days, many clouds will form and watch out for light to moderate rains on the southeast coast. The capitals, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Rio and Vitória, will have a week with a lot of humidity and rain expected.
