The hegemony of the documentary about Amber Heard and Johnny Depp did not last long. The latter was dethroned a week later by the British series Who is Erin Carter?, which Netflix didn’t really make. But that didn’t stop it from being number one on the list a few days after its release.
Evin Ahmed (Snaba Cash) plays a British teacher living in Spain who becomes involved in a supermarket robbery because one of the thieves claims to recognize him. In Palomino, a town full of secrets, his life changes. Erin must clear her name and protect her family.
In the 7 episodes that make up the first season of Who Is Erin Carter, the writers tell the story of the heroine’s past. The series also offers a few action scenes – via hand-to-hand combat with Super Erin – to offer a little spectacle, but it all remains very bland and ordinary.
Despite the many inconsistencies (do all the actors speak perfect English? While the action takes place in Barcelona?) and rather weak underlying plots, this new Netflix production has only one goal: to hold your breath so that you want to click “watch the next episode”. “.
And we are not the only ones of this opinion. Even if it offers the first place in the top series, who is Erin Carter? Subscribers are far from convinced, looking at the comments on the AlloCiné page and its average rating of 3.1/5 (currently):
“A British series that is not particularly original on the level of the script, but is nevertheless entertaining and enjoyable to watch. The heroine – who is supposed to weigh 45 kilograms fully wet – is mouth-watering at any cost, but that aside, the fight scenes are pretty good. The story keeps the audience spellbound and the casting is flawless. I advise !” (lia)
Who is Erin Carter? Answer at the end of Season 1…
“The series is enjoyable to watch, despite the script and some inconsistencies. The fight scenes are well done and the actors involved. It’s deja vu, but it’s still well done. That’s why it’s a series to watch.” (cromarla)
“I tried to hold back with a lot of good will, but I couldn’t because this series bored me to the end. It’s an uninteresting story that boils down to weaknesses and connection errors. Other than that, it’s a completely implausible story, with too much contrast between “nothing” action scenes and useless thunder scenes. It ends with ‘I didn’t hug you at all’ and I gave up halfway through watching it.” (Drive_H)
If we remove the impossibilities (in every episode), Evin Ahmed’s snaba under the cache and the annoying kid, we get an acceptable mini-series with many mysteries revealed in the water and a rather pleasant setting in Barcelona. 2.5/5! (max)”. (Pascal)
“This series has nothing to do with logic, it hits a girl with the most violence there is and stands in the second so that the crossing doesn’t hurt, otherwise the series as a whole is watchable if you don’t pay attention to the little things. (moh root)
