Luis Rubiales has been removed from leadership of the federation by the FIFA Disciplinary Commission

On Saturday, the chairman of FIFA’s disciplinary committee, Jorge Ivan Palacio, announced the provisional suspension of Rubiales from all football-related activities domestically and internationally.
Eleven members of the coaching staff of the Spain women’s national team have given up their jobs in protest against the president. Besides them, athletes and personalities of the country have declared their support for Hermoso. More than 80 players have said they will not be called up to the national team if Rubiales remains in charge.
The leaders of the territorial federations, summoned by the interim president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Pedro Rocha, called on Monday for Rubiales’ resignation, following his removal from the presidency of the body.
“Following the latest events and the unacceptable behavior which has seriously damaged the image of Spanish football, the presidents ask that Luis Rubiales immediately present his resignation as president of the RFEF,” reads the federation’s statement.
The emergency meeting was convened to work on the development of the Rubiales case and, the note reads, seeks “a profound and imminent organic restructuring in the strategic positions of the Federation to pave the way for a new phase of management of Spanish football”.
Several sports personalities have shown outrage over the case and have come out in support of Jenni Hermoso.
Coach and former player Xavi Hernandez, of Barcelona, and player Andrés Iniesta, as well as clubs in the Spanish league and even people outside of football, have condemned the forced kissing and posture of Luis Rubiales.
