He’s one of the best actors of the 2000s, Christian Bale is one star we know will never disappoint! Le Prestige, Le Mans 66, The Big Short, L’Empire du soleil, American Psycho, The Machinist… His filmography makes you wonder, but which is his best film?
Based on your more than 100,000 ratings and an average of 4.51 stars out of 5, you have chosen Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Kristin Bailey as the best feature film.
We no longer present The Dark Knight, the second opus of The Dark Knight Adventures, of course with Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Heath Ledger as his nemesis The Joker. We can also meet Commissioner Gordon, played by Gary Oldman or Morgan Freeman’s Lucius Fox, as the beginning of Batman, but also a new face – or even two: Harvey Dent / Double Face (Aaron Eckhart).
If Christian Bale often disguises himself there, the dark knight does not prevent him from showing it against Heath Ledger and his hallucinatory performance that no one believed! His investment in Bruce Wayne’s skin as the Bat hero under his armor, his fallibility, must be among his great interpretations.

The Dark Knight was shrouded in a special aura following the death of Heath Ledger prior to the film’s release, leading to legend that the role of Gotham City’s psychopathic clown destroyed him. We’ve detailed the exact circumstances of his death in our Broken Fate collection, Of which here is an episode dedicated to the interpreter of Brokeback Mountain.
If The Dark Knight is the first of Bale’s 45 feature films, then it is followed by another Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises (4.31 out of 5), then three films in which he achieves excellent performances: Le Mans 66 (4.28 ). 5), Le Prestige (4.27 out of 5) and Fighter (4.14 out of 5). The latter also brought him his only Oscar, for Best Supporting Actor.
