Casting

To find the role of Janus, a classic casting was held and Pierre Gomes was found. For the character of Sam, the process was a bit more complicated, as the director recounts: “We wanted a young woman who embodied something authentic and used wild casting. I knew we had a chance to find her in the women’s rugby teams, around Agen and the video. Nina We are being watched.”

As for the grandfather, the team was looking for an iconic interpreter of the Southwest and the older generation. “We brainstormed and came up with the idea of ​​Frances Cabrell’s sister John Lassalle. The first feature film

Super-Bourrés is the first feature film of Bastien Milleau, who studied at FEMIS in the screenplay department, where he created several feature films. Super-Bourrés is a continuation of his graduation project.

He was inspired by the labeled bottles at his grandparents’ house: “They seemed mysterious to me, and of course we weren’t allowed to drink when we were kids, but adults enjoyed them at family meals. I thought it was a good story to talk about coming of age. A ritual – and it was a good engine to drive the story forward.”

The director chose to set Super-Bourrés in the countryside, the countryside where he grew up: “For an artistic debut, it was exciting to talk about what I know, and talking to my friends in the city, I was surprised by how different our experiences were. For someone who grew up in the countryside, it was an adventure. Parties: you had to get a car, get some strategies and work out all the little logistics. It is familiar to me and that inspired me to write characters that I knew and still know. I also wanted to embody the region. In this regard, the question of accents came up from the beginning so that I could take the story to an area that I know well.”

A story of friendship

Sam was originally a male character. Bastien Milo explains: “Intuitively I told myself they were two boys and imagined their journey as childhood friends: when we’re young, the gender difference doesn’t really matter, but in adolescence, jealousy creates uncertainty and raises the eternal question of what’s possible.” Friendship between girls and boys. Even if Sammy ends up being a female character, she wanted to pay Super-Bourrés a friendship story without turning into a romantic comedy.
