Expect a lot of suspense and good doses of action in “Hypnotic: Invisible Menace”, as shown in a new official trailer. In the plot – which will debut in Brazil on October 26 in theaters – detective Danny Rourke, played by Ben Affleck, tirelessly searches for his missing daughter.
However, he finds himself involved in a criminal association that defies reality. During his journey, a series of disturbing events take place that lead him to question everything. Fortunately, Rourke can count on the help of Diana Cruz, a woman with psychic powers (played by Brazilian actress Alice Braga).
The detective follows the trail of the man who believes he has the answers to find his daughter, but finds himself faced with surprising and dangerous revelations. Watch the trailer:
The film offers audiences insight into how hypnotic powers lead victims to do questionable things and many more when deceived by those gifted with hypnosis. With the mind dominated, people end up fearing what is not real. In this way they become easy victims of manipulation.
Hypnotic does not “hypnotize” the audience
Directed by Robert Rodríguez, Hypnotic has experienced several delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Jobs also went through an insurance lawsuit, studio problems, and lack of marketing.
Exactly whether these details affected audience expectations is unknown. But in its US opening weekend in May, Hypnotic grossed just $2.4 million. This is Affleck’s career worst figure for a film that hit at least 1,000 screens.
