Relationship of Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq) published in July of this year, the data refer to the performance of the Brazilian sector of the machinery and equipment industry in the month of May. According to the released document, in May 2023 the machinery and equipment sector achieved a cumulative growth result of 23% considering the months from January to May of this year. Still with regard to exports of the machinery and equipment industry, the study data show that in May the sector managed to export a total of 1.3 billion dollars. This value represents a remarkable growth of 35.7% compared to April, which, in turn, had recorded a decrease of 21.2% compared to March 2023.

To the April report, exports of machinery and equipment showed a reduction of 20.8% during the period, which offset some of the progress accumulated in 2023. However, the sector still managed to export a total of 982 million US dollars, equal to an increase of 9.5%. compared to the amount exported in April 2022. Between January and April of this year, the machinery and equipment industry recorded a cumulative growth of its exports of 23.4%. This progress helped offset the 12% decline in domestic sales.

As regards the trend of the industrial machinery and equipment sector, the 17th Sobratema study on the Brazilian construction equipment market identified positive prospects in sales forecasts in this sector. As highlighted in the report, estimates indicate the possibility of an increase of approximately 4% in sales and revenues during 2023, both in the perimeter of yellow line machines and in the entire category of equipment intended for the construction sector.

José Antônio Valente, director of the cars for rent Trans Obra says that the cumulative result of 23% this year in the machinery and equipment sector has helped to reduce the negative margin in the total result when looking at the domestic market numbers. “The export of 1.3 billion dollars in one month in this sector is a clear sign that large machinery companies and also small and medium-sized enterprises need to be aware of the market opportunities for leasing and selling machinery large in size to satisfy the market as well battery tools“.

The result in the machinery and equipment sector shows the opposite of the projections for the year 2023. As detailed in the material released by Brazilian Chamber of the Construction Industry (CBIC), the projection for the industrial construction segment was 2.5% for all of 2023. This estimate is based on the continuous development of the market over the past two years and on the analysis of the ongoing operational phases in the real estate market, which, according to the release, indicate significant residential demand. In the last 12 months the report reported that there was a cumulative decrease of 7.3%.
