It’s officially back! Production Godzilla: Minus One, by Takashi Yamazaki, won a new official trailer. “A new terror is born in postwar Japan: Godzilla. Will the devastated people be able to survive… let alone fight back?
The new take on the franchise will take the King of the Monsters back to his roots as a gruesome metaphor for nuclear devastation. Minus one will take place immediately after the Second World War, in a scenario where Japan was badly damaged by the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima,
Amid ongoing efforts to rebuild shattered neighborhoods and care for countless war-wounded people, resources are already depleted in the new trailer as Godzilla emerges from the sea and begins running over people as he attacks the city’s downtown. Interestingly, there is a short document from the US War Department that likely contains information about Godzilla and his origins.
