Indie games continue to amaze with their creative ideas and relatively low cost. An example of this is kill crowsthe new action game from 5minlab and published by Giant KRAFTONwhich brings a simple proposal, but very fun and engaging.

One hit and one kill

The presentation of Kill the Crows is pretty straightforward. Without showing story, cutscenes or anything like that, the player is put straight into the action. You are Isabella, a young gunslinger who finds herself in the middle of a cursed village and must survive several waves of enemies that increase over time.

Kill the Crows is quite frantic in combat

That’s all the context the player will get in Kill The Crows. Equipped with a pistol with a capacity of only 6 bullets, the player will have to aim well, manage dodges and bullets and accumulate skill points to periodically activate the special power. A really interesting point about Kill The Crows is that all the characters, be it Isabella, common enemies or even bosses, die with one hit, and this is where the game’s challenge becomes apparent.

Any kind of mistake results in death, causing the player to lose all progress in the match. For every 100 enemies killed, a boss will appear on the map with some sort of special ability that will make life difficult for the player. After killing the boss, the game will keep sending waves of powerful enemies and it is up to the player to survive to break his personal best.

Bosses in Kill the Crows also die in one hit

Through different challenges it is possible to unlock new weapons, special powers and passive abilities that help in the game, but I felt that even with the challenges, it was quite simple to unlock everything. With only a few hours to play, Kill The Crows progression was already dead and all that was left was to break your personal best. But I don’t see that as a negative point, since the game does a great job of holding the player’s attention and encouraging him to go further in a very intuitive and addictive way.

Conclusion

Kill the crows - Note 8

Kill the Crows is an addictive game that does a great job of putting the player directly into the action. The enemies are varied, the gameplay is challenging, and the graphics are simple yet beautiful. The progression is a bit disappointing, as everything the game offers can be unlocked in just a few matches, but this can easily be fixed in future updates.

Kill the Crows is available for PC via Steam.
