In January 2023, the film Corsage, worn by Vicky Cripps, was at the center of a scandal. One of its main actors, Florian Teichtmeister, was charged with possession of child pornography. The latter will portray Emperor François-Joseph in a feature film directed by Marie Kreutzer.
Following this accusation, several countries decided to deprogram the film. Public broadcaster ORF, which co-sponsored Corsage, said it would “immediately refrain from producing and broadcasting productions with Florian Teichtmeister”. Note that Cineplexx, the cinema chain that decided to remove the corsage from the poster, operates theaters in Austria, Italy, Greece, Romania, Slovenia and the Balkans.
On September 5, the Vienna court issued a verdict on this case. According to The WorldFlorian Teichtmeister was sentenced to two years of probation for possession and production of child pornography.
The 43-year-old actor took the decision into account and was placed in a specialized medical center. “I sincerely and deeply regret my actions and want to apologize”he said on the stand. According to the artist, the therapy had been going on for two years when the investigation began. The Teichtmeister explained that he understood this “Behind every image is sexual abuse.”
“The actor was accused of obtaining approximately 76,000 documents online between February 2008 and August 2021, more than half of which involved victims between the ages of 7 and 14. He changed one of them. A large number, made collages, slide shows. and video editing”– says Le Monde.

Prosecutor Julia Kalmar requested a prison sentence “Don’t minimize such actions. Consumers define the market, even if Florian Teichtmeister did not harm the child himself”she said.
After the scandal was revealed last January, Corsage was eliminated from the Oscar race for best foreign film. “In Austria, the prestigious national theater Burgtheater, where the actor was a member, announced his dismissal, and the public audiovisual group ORF undertook not to produce or broadcast any more projects with him.”– says Le Monde.
Opening in theaters on December 14, 2022, Corsage was completely eclipsed by Avatar 2, pulling in just 80,000 viewers.
