It’s never easy to play a famous role, but it is exactly what Chris Evans does in the next disney movie Light year . Buzz’s signature space boots were first worn by Tim Allen and Chris Evans had to find his twist iconic slogan of the intergalactic hero .
In an interview with Variety on the red carpet at the premiere of Light year, Marvel star Chris Evans spoke about the dangers of recreating Buzz’s call sign, “to infinity and beyond”. How did he do it? He said:
Of course. It’s difficult. I mean, the first time you have to do that iconic “To Infinity and Beyond” line, you’re just making a shameless impression of Tim Allen. Because he is intimidating. but angus [MacLane] and everyone at Pixar was very helpful and you let them guide you.
Few movies are better known than toy storyand Buzz Lightyear is one of the most recognizable characters in the Pixar library. Unsurprisingly, even a big movie star like Chris Evans was a little intimidated by the coat I got from Tim Allen . Adult fans will flock to theaters to see the new version of their favorite childhood hero, many with their own children.
In such a high-pressure situation, how can an actor play a familiar character without cheap imitation? You get away with a little help from your friends. Chris Evans hired the film’s director, Angus MacLane, to keep him on track. While fans may have been disappointed to learn of Tim Allen’s departure, Chris Evans won’t replace the actual toy figure. The film will instead follow the astronaut on whom the action figure of Buzz in the world was supposed to be based Toy story. There is plenty of room for character customization, while paying homage to the first man to go into infinity and beyond.
Light year will fly to theaters June 17, 2022. This will be the first exclusive theatrical release at Pixar since then Before in 2020, so make sure you buy tickets while you can.
