Actor Chris Evans commented on his future in the MCU, leaving the door open for a comeback as Captain America … but not so wide open.
THE comicbook.com spoke with Chris Evans during the promotion of “Lightyear”, the film in which the actor gives voice to the protagonist (in the Brazilian dub the task was with Marcos Mion), and the Marvel subject came out.
Chris Evans was asked if he could potentially return to the role of Captain America in the future. At the end of “Avengers: Endgame”, an older version of himself appeared claiming to have returned all the Infinity Stones to their respective places in the timeline, which could be a way to start a new hero story.
“It looks like something people would want to see,” Chris Evans said of the idea for his return as Captain America. “I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but it’s difficult… It was a good race and I’m really happy about it. It is so precious to me. It should be perfect. It would be scary to mess with something that is still so dear to me. This role means a lot to me. So revisiting it would be a difficult task. “
While this isn’t a bad thing on Chris Evans’ part, it seems very unlikely that his Captain America will return to the MCU right now. Also because the story has already continued in the Disney + series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, with Anthony Mackie’s Falcon taking control of the shield. Mackie is expected to star in “Captain America 4”.
