Avengers 6: Marvel has a director for Secret Wars, and he’s a superhero

On July 14, the cast joined the writers, who had been on strike since May, forcing additional filming to stop. As well as on the Marvel side of Deadpool 3, whose production is on hold.

As during Covid, the studio had to change the release schedule and so, Secret Wars, the sixth (and final?) episode of the Avengers saga, is now expected in our theaters on May 5, 2027.

It’s far, of course. But that’s not stopping Kevin Feige and his teams from actively working on it, if Scooper is to be believed MyTimeToShine Hello. The latter claims on Twitter that Marvel Studios has a front-runner to produce Secret Wars, and that the latter is none other than Sam Raimi.

From Darkman to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and of course his much-loved Spider-Man trilogy, the director has proven his mettle when it comes to superheroes. So it’s no surprise that Marvel Studios still wants to work with him.

But a few caveats are in order: the information comes from a scooper, one of those insiders whose credibility isn’t top quality. And if what was said here was true, the status “Number 1 Choice” Indicates a desire, a dream scenario. For the moment, a one-sided desire from the studio, which probably has not yet approached the director to offer him a project.

Released in May 2022, Doctor Strange’s Multiverse of Madness has shown that Sam Raimi’s paw can appear, occasionally, in the great machine of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which tries to erase the identity of its people, the directors.

But many viewers were disappointed by the Illuminati sequence, which concentrated most of the cameos in the story. But Secret Wars should look the part. power of ten. Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2 showed that too many characters (the result of compromises with the studio that employed him) hurt his superhero films. Although it is never as good as the intimate side of the genre. Can the situation be changed by secret wars or should we face it and accept the challenge?

We probably won’t have an answer until the end of the actors’ and writers’ strike, during which these types of contracts will not be signed. Meanwhile, unlike Infinity War and Endgame, both of which are directed by the Russo brothers, Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars appear to have different directors, with Destiny Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) in the lead.
