  • Origin and first murder: Danilo Cavalcante is 34 years old and from Maranhão. He moved to the state of Tocantis where he works as a farmer. On November 5, 2017 he shot and killed student Walter Júnior. The crime, motivated by debt, took place in the city of Figueirópolis, 260 kilometers from Palmas, the state capital.
  • Investigations and escape from Brazil: A week after the crime, the suspect received an arrest request from the Prosecutor’s Office, but the arrest order was not registered with the National Warrant Bank, being limited only to the state level. Danilo thus managed to fly to the USA in January 2018, almost three months after the crime.
  • Murder in the United States: Danilo Cavalcante was found guilty of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandão in 201. He killed her to prevent her from informing the police about the arrest warrant issued in Brazil. Deborah was killed with 38 stab wounds in front of her two children.

  • Short escape: After stabbing Deborah, Danilo Cavalcante fled and was found just over 1 and a half hours after the crime in another state, Virginia. He was subsequently extradited to Pennsylvania where he was tried and convicted.

  • Climbed the walls: In August, Danilo was sentenced to life in prison without the right to parole. He was in the Chester County Jail awaiting transfer to a federal prison, but escaped on Aug. 31. The images of the escape show the Brazilian climbing the walls to leave the place.

  • 12 days of missions and rewards: The American authorities have been looking for the Brazilian for 12 days and have not yet found him. A reward of R$123,000 has been offered for anyone seeking information on Danilo’s whereabouts. The use of lethal force against the Brazilian has already been authorized by the local police force.
