About 36 years after Top Gun – Indomitable Aces (1986) debut in theaters and mark generations, Val Kilmer recalled production footage with the release of the sequel, Top Gun: Maverick (2022), starring again by Tom Cruise.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kilmer reflected on the filming of the top gun original. Initially, the actor was not interested in playing Ice Manbut the persistence of the director Tony Scott took him on a date, and the filmmaker’s enthusiasm won over the artist.
“We were all so young during the making of the first film, but there was still a special bond between us all,” said the star of Batman Forever (1995). “Even after filming for days, we laughed and danced the night away!”
Top Gun – Indomitable Aces accompanies the young naval aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (cruise) and the colleague Nick “Goose” Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards) while they have the chance to train at Navy Fighter Weapons School at Naval Air Base in San Diego, California, also known as top gun.
