Isn’t this character nailed to Han Solo? And no, we’re not talking about Chris Pratt.
‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ has just been released and threatens to sweep the world box officetaking into account the records established by its predecessors and the aroma of “end of cycle” that this latest installment gives off by bringing together the original cast of ‘Jurassic Park’, 29 years later, with the protagonists of the current Jurassic trilogy.
The ‘Jurassic World’ franchise is one of the few that can stand up to Disney’s spectacular collection of artistic licenses at the annual box office, with Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar leading the way. And it seems that Colin Trevorrow and the rest of the current managers of the saga are aware of this and have made some references (some more obvious, others more far-fetched) to their “rivals” in the constant race to conquer the ranking of the 100 highest-grossing films in history.
You have to remember that Trevorrow, director of ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ and writer and producer of the entire new trilogy, including ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’was also chosen to close the new batch of ‘Star Wars’ movies with the outcome of the skywalker saga.
Nevertheless, the filmmaker was removed from the project due to “creative differences” and his script, which was leaked a couple of years ago, never came to fruition. It was a somewhat turbulent time within Lucasfilm, with the dismissal as well as Phil Lord and Chris Miller of the solo Han Solo movie and the reshoots of ‘rogue one‘ without much counting on the opinion of its director Gareth Evans.
JJ Abrams returned to ‘Star Wars’ to shoot ‘the rise of skywalker‘, the end of the story of King, Finn and Kylo Ren, and Trevorrow refocused on the ‘Jurassic World’ universe. But his journey within the galactic franchise made a dent, and several details of ‘Jurassic World 3’ prove it.

SPOILERS FOR ‘JURASSIC PARK DOMINION’ FOLLOW
The most obvious is DeWanda Wise’s character, Kyla Wattsa smuggler who makes her living aboard a plane, transporting goods of dubious origin in exchange for money… Come on, he only lacks Chewbacca to be a clone of Han Solo. The love he feels for his plane, which he handles with the same skill and recklessness as Harrison Ford’s character in any of the installments of ‘Star Wars’, is traced to that which Solo professes for the Millenium Falcon. And both ships have a similar death and resurrection story, too.
And this serves to highlight another ‘Jurassic World’ connection. Many know the story of Harrison Ford about to become Dr. Alan Grant. steven spielberg knew well that Ford was the perfect cast for the protagonist of his adventure film, since he had the precedent of ‘Indiana Jones‘. The actor ultimately did not accept the role, and Sam Neill was chosen. But the character kept the hat as a nod to the famous archaeologist, and in the recent ‘Jurassic World 3’ there is a clear reference that unites both characters.
When Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and young Maisie Lockwood (isabella sermon) find themselves trapped in BioSyn’s amber mines, the paleontologist uses a torch to advance through the darkness. When the dinosaurs attack, appearing through gaps in the wall as if they were traps from some lost tomb, Grant loses the hat, which falls to the ground. But like the adventurer Indiana Jones, Grant decides to risk his integrity to get it back, turning it into a symbol of his clothing and his personality.

Finally, it’s time to talk about the threads that unite Marvel with ‘Jurassic World 3’. Up to 5 cast members have participated in marvelite projectsbeing Chris Pratt the most obvious being the protagonist of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and having participated in several UCM movies embodying his character Starlord. Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neil they appeared in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, the first as the Grandmaster in a supporting role, and the second in a cameo role playing Odin in a play orchestrated by Loki.
So far I think most had caught on. But what you may not have noticed is that the movie’s villain Lewis Dogson (Campbell Scott) also has a past as the father of Peter Parker himself (Andrew Garfield’s father) in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2: The Power of Electro’, and another very bad one from ‘Jurassic World 3’ as Santos (Dichen Lachman) was Jiaying, the first villain created exclusively for one of the best superhero series in history, ‘Agents of SHIELD’, without having previously appeared in comics.
