The coming months promise to be full of twists and turns in Un Si Grand Soleil, with several departures from the show that will no doubt sadden fans of France 2’s soap opera.
While the intrigue of the trafficking of Buddha Blue in Montpellier takes its most dramatic turn and puts several lives in danger, including that of Tom, the audience will witness the departure of Virgil, one of Un Si’s historical characters, in the coming days. Grand Soleil, introduced since the release of the series in 2018.
When questioned by Télé Star, his translator Fred Bianconi explained the reasons for his departure: “For a year and a half, I could see the writers struggling to come up with ideas for Virgil. They’d already put him through a robbery, a bereavement, a temper tantrum, a professional conversion, a descent into hell…”.
The farewell to Virgil won’t be final, however, as Fred Bianconi suggests it’s a longer hiatus: “It was better for him to take a break. That was what was decided by mutual agreement. It saddens me to leave Virgil, but I prefer this disappointment.”.
Colleen Ramos-Pinto (Kira) and two other actors are also leaving
Virgil won’t be the only character to leave Un Si Grand Soleil in Season 6. In an interview with Télé Poche, Olivier Schulzinger, the creator of the series, actually revealed that other iconic characters will be saying goodbye soon. Starting with Kira, the lover of Claire (Melanie Maudran) and Florent (Fabric Deville), played by Colin Ramos-Pinto.
“Coline Ramos-Pinto warned us last spring that she wanted to get some fresh air”Olivier Schulzinger explained at the microphone of our colleagues. “I’m currently writing his departure, which will be shot in December and broadcast in March 2024.”.
Until then, fans of Un Si Grand Soleil, who will therefore still be able to enjoy Kira for several months, will witness the release of two more central characters of the series. This created a real challenge for the screenwriters, who had to imagine the death of one of these two heroes.
“Firstly we wanted a happy ending, but secondly we asked to be released.” That’s why we decided to cross their fate and, finally, it ended in tragedy with the death of one of the heroes.“.
For now, Olivier Schulzinger is careful not to reveal the names of the two actors who have asked to leave the series. But one thing is certain: their characters will be at the center of a very large narrative arc in the coming weeks.
