Simetieri is coming back – already! – on the screens. Four years after the new adaptation, the prequel is coming straight to Paramount+ for streaming. This new story adapts a previously unpublished chapter from Stephen King’s 1983 novel.
The story is set in 1969 and follows a young Jude Crandall, a character played by John Lithgow in the 2019 version and Fred Gwynne in the 1989 version. When he dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine. Discovers terrible buried secrets and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever bind him to Ludlow.
Banding together, Judy and her childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has possessed Ludlow since its inception and, as she discovers, has the power to destroy everything in its path.
The trailer suggests a very bloody film in the works of Stephen King. on his account (formerly Twitter), the writer shared his excitement about the film, saying:
“The story takes some liberties, but it’s a good story. David Duchovny is great. The secret, as always, is to care about the characters.” Something should calm the fans down.
BLOODLINES: In the book, this is a story that Jude Crandall tells Lewis Creed to try and dissuade him from using pet semataria. The script takes some liberties, but it’s a great story. David Duchovny is great.

Alongside David Duchovny (X-Files), we’ll find some familiar faces like Henry Thomas – soon to appear in the series The House of Usher Falls on Netflix – and actress Pam Grier (Jackie Brown). The film is directed by Lindsey Berry – who has been announced to direct the remake of Sleepy Hollow.
Simetierre, The Beginning of Evil, is available on Paramount+ on October 7.
