Rictus, the new OCS comedy
This is an engagingly paced series available today on OCS and telecast tonight on OCS Max. The channel offers its subscribers the first two episodes of Rictus, which Fred Testot has transferred in excellent form and is determined not to make you laugh.
A real challenge for an actor used to humor – who only has to be content with grimacing on screen – as he told us in an interview:The more we tell her not to laugh, the more she laughs. My technique on set is to let people laugh to get it through“.
Rictus is a series of anticipation, or rather a dystopia, of which there is very little in France. A genre on which screenwriters and directors struggled a lot, due to the lack of a solid budget. But the new OCS production, imagined by the couple Arnaud Malherbe / Marion Festraëts, comes out with distinction. It relies on an eclectic cast, smiley (but tentative) looks, and uncomfortable (but intentional) situations.
“We collaborated on a short film a long time ago”– Testot tells us. “He had this world that Arno loves, between drama, comedy, weird, weird… He and his wife wrote this series and gave me the brilliant role of a guy who doesn’t know what laughter is. A world where it is forbidden. He is also an auditor, that is, he listens with the drones of the state between people to find out if they are laughing or not. On the right path, not laughing. And finally, it’s funny in spite of itself. Here’s what was interesting. We laugh at these completely cleaned and very strange people.“.
This Alien series stars Ophelia Colby (Pamela Rose), Youssef Hyde (La Flamme), Pascal Demolon and even Constance Doll (Manipulations). In any case, Rictus hit the mark at the Mania Festival of the last series, where the team left the prize for the best series in the comedy category (Jury of high school students). The season consists of 9 26-minute episodes that will air weekly.
