The Brazilian basketball team already knows the athletes who will represent the country at the Pan American Games, from 25 October to 4 November, in Santiago de Chile. The women’s team was called up on Thursday, and the list of the men’s team was published last Friday.
For the men’s team, coach Gustavo De Conti has called up 12 athletes, most of whom work in Brazil, to fight for the seventh title, the last one won in Toronto 2015. Elinho (Corinthians), Scott Machado (Flamengo), Felipe Ruivo (Pinheiros), Reynan (Overtime-USA), Didi Louzada (Flamengo), Gui Deodato (Flamengo), Danilo Fuzaro (Minas), Lucas Dias (SESI Franca), Gabriel Jaú (Flamengo), Wesley Castro (SESI Franca) , Márcio Henrique (SESI Franca) and Maique Oliveira (Flamengo) are on the list.
For the women’s team, coach João Camargo has also called up 12 altetas, all playing in Brazil, to seek their fifth title, the last one won in Lima 2019. Débora Costa (SESI Araraquara), Maria Albiero (Ituano), Ana Beatriz Oliveira (Unimed/Campinas), Carina dos Santos (Unimed/Campinas), Gabriella Soares (SESI/Araraquara), Leila Zabani (Ituano), Emanuely de Oliveira (SESI/Araraquara), Vanessa Sassá (Santo André), Aline Moura (SESI/Araraquara), Licinara Bispo (Unimed/Campinas), Erika de Souza and Mariana Dias (Ituano) is called up.
Participation in the Pan American Games: Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela. The key draw will take place on September 22nd.
According to the competition formula, two groups of four teams each will be divided. The teams play within the groups and the best two advance to the semi-finals. The third and fourth play reclassification matches.
