Briton Faye White was shocked to discover she was pregnant just two hours before giving birth in Essex, England. According to the newspaper New York Postthe 19-year-old only found out after the baby literally stuck his foot out.
The adventure began when Faye woke up with a large amount of fluid running down her legs – it was her waters that had broken. Without suspecting a pregnancy and believing that it was a urinary tract infection, the young woman ran to the bathroom and there she saw the baby’s foot.
“Life was very normal until one morning I woke up to a giant jet of water. I went to the bathroom because I felt very strong pressure and there was something coming out. I went back to my room and discovered that it was his left foot. I finally called an ambulance,” he said.
As the mother of a 2-year-old boy named Brody-Chase, the situation took the young woman by surprise because, according to her, she had not experienced any typical pregnancy symptoms. Faye says that her belly had not grown, her menstrual cycle was regular and that months earlier she had taken several pregnancy tests, all negative. “I took about six pregnancy tests over the course of nine months and they all came back negative,” she said in an interview with New York Post.
The baby girl was born at 37 weeks, on May 6 this year, and was named Luna-Grace Behrens. After giving birth, she was taken to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Broomfield Hospital. Luna was born with mild hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), due to some complications during childbirth and, as a result, she had to stay in intensive care for a few days, but soon returned home.
Faye considers Luna a miracle. Before the baby was born, the young woman had had another pregnancy, but the baby had not survived. “She defied the odds. What she went through, and she’s living it brilliantly. Now I can’t imagine life without her. I like my busy life, and she definitely keeps it busy,” Faye says.
