After defeat against Fortaleza, Luxembourg guarantees that Corinthians will be “different” in the South American championship

Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has ensured that Corinthians will be a “different” team in the semi-final of the Copa Sudamericano, against Fortaleza. The team entered the field modified to face Leão do Pici himself, this Thursday, and came out defeated 2-1.

Luxemburgo hinted that Timão will have the return of important players for the South American, such as Renato Augusto, Fagner, Fábio Santos and Rojas, who did not travel with the delegation even on Thursday. Veríssimo also did not play, due to a physical problem, and Maycon, who was disqualified. The coach also guaranteed that Timão will compete differently, especially since it is a knockout match.

“I have no doubt that we will be a different team. One player makes the difference, let alone six. I have no doubt that we will enter the semi-final with the conditions to reach the final, like Corinthians. It will be like “Today we missed a little more than desire, of suffering from defeat. Victory comes with the suffering of not wanting to defeat. Corinthians is like that. Playing for Corinthians requires determination and it will. I’m satisfied at Corinthians, it’s a difficult job to do. We will reach the semi-final of the competition in a different way”, Luxa assured in the press conference.

“There will be different matches (in South America). In a decisive match the characteristics change completely. Fortaleza is a great team. We will play two decisive matches, we must understand that winning something doesn’t happen because it will fall from the sky, we have to work for it. The result it’s painful, even more so as it was. The ball was at the feet of the attackers, we didn’t need to be fast,” added the coach, who also explained why he changed the team so much for the duel.

Corinthians will meet Fortaleza again on the 26th (Tuesday), in the semi-finals of the Copa Sudamericano. The return is scheduled for October 3 (Tuesday), at Arena Castelão.

Despite not facing much internal pressure, Luxa was very challenged externally, especially due to the team’s poor performances as hosts. The coach will have three consecutive matches in front of the Neo Química Arena to gain support and, who knows, lead Timão to the unprecedented title of the Copa Sudamericano.
