The government changes the rules for the indicative classification of series

From October 2nd it will no longer be necessary to analyze the ratings for the new seasons of the series in advance. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and announced in an order published this Friday (15th) in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU).

With the exemption from preventive analysis, exhibitors exclusively follow the so-called “indicative self-classification”, which must follow the criteria indicated in the Regulations Government rating guides. For freely recommended content, for example, the document provides that only works “which contain predominantly positive content” will be admitted, but which may include scenes of fantastic violence (such as fights between cartoon characters) and non-violent deaths.

Again according to the MJSP regulations already in force, indicative self-classification can be carried out “by the person responsible for displaying works and other audiovisual products, broadcasting, programming or making entertainment and public performances available”.

The provision affects the bureaucratic times for the approval of new episodes, as the deadline for issuing the opinion of the MJSP in the indicative classification process is 30 calendar days from receipt of the work. The information comes from the portal Tele.Sintesi.
