Manchester United loses again and Guardiola returns to see the comeback victory

Manchester United lost for the third time this season in the Premier League, at home to Brighton this Saturday, while Pep Guardiola returned to the bench to see Manchester City come from behind against West Ham to win 3-1.

U-turns were the order of the day in the Premier League, with Liverpool coming from behind before beating Wolverhampton 3-1 in the first game of the day, and then two goals in injury time gave Tottenham a 2-2 win 1 over Sheffield United.

After another tumultuous week off the pitch for Manchester United, the club needed their players to excite their fans.

Brighton, however, won comfortably 3-1 and United lost three of their first five rounds of the English Championship for the first time since 1989/90, leaving them 12th in the table.

United went behind in the 20th minute when Danny Welbeck scored against his former club after being left unmarked inside the area.

Expensive reinforcement Rasmus Hojlund, making his debut as a starter, equalized before half-time but the referee ruled the ball went out when Marcus Rashford passed it to the Danish striker.

Brighton took advantage of this video assist relief, with beautiful goals from Pascal Gross early in the second half and João Pedro, prompting groans from every corner of Old Trafford.

Substitute Hannibal Mejbri pulled one back for the home side with 18 minutes left but Brighton held on comfortably to move into third place on 12 points.

“For sure this (losing three of the first five rounds for the first time in Premier League history) is something that bothers me, but I also have to see how we play,” coach Erik ten Hag said.

“It’s a question of personality. We have to see how strong we are, stand together. We have to be disappointed and uncomfortable with ourselves. Let’s change things. There are demands on our part.”
