CTPS | How the Digital Work Card works

Discover the main things to know about the Work Card in its digital version

If you work under the CLT regime, it is worth understanding how the Digital Work Card (CTPS) works. It was created by the Ministry of Economy in 2019 and aims to facilitate access to information on workers, collecting, for example, work history and benefits received during their career.

Furthermore, the Digital Work Card was designed to replace the physical model and guarantee greater security of workers’ data, since the information is stored on government servers and does not run the same risks to which the card is subject, such as cancellations and loss of document. .

It should be highlighted, however, that the traditional CTPS remains valid, especially when the worker’s previous work history is consulted. In fact, companies such as public and international bodies can choose to register the employee in paper format if they request it.

How CTPS Digital works

The Digital Work Card works in the same way as the traditional version and is automatically available to anyone who holds a CPF. However, digital document features take place online and offer additional benefits in a number of elements. Look at the main ones:

  • Any process involving requests is carried out via the Internet;
  • You don’t need to pay anything to have a CTPS online;
  • The preparation of the document takes little time;
  • The information in your spreadsheet is presented in a more organized way than the traditional document.

Anyone wanting to access their CTPS Digital must download the federal government’s application and identify themselves using their CPF number. It is also necessary have an account on Gov.br to access. Check it step by step:

Finally, it is important to underline that CTPS Digital does not have a specific number, i.e. it is possible to perform all actions involving the document using only the CPF number – which previously required annotations on the paper Worksheet. Furthermore, the virtual document is not accepted as civil identification.

Anyone who does not have a mobile phone or tablet to download the app can access the site gov.brregister and use all the features also available in the wallet app.

How subscriptions work at CTPS Digital

The signing of the Digital Work Card takes place online and does not require any type of physical registration, as was the case with the paper CTPS. When a person shares their data with the employer, the act is already understood as a kind of signature to validate the hiring.

After this step, the company simply needs to launch the new CLT contract on the e-Social platform, responsible for formalizing and acquiring information and work obligations. This step also does not require any signature or participation from the person hired.
