Bouli Laners : Somehow I wanted to celebrate CaesuraS The first, the last. I did not want to make a fifth film in exactly the same conditions as before. I wanted to have a break, but I did not know which one yet … so I told myself that I really had to do something else.
I have wanted to make a film in Scotland for a long time, just because I love this country, I go there every year and I know the shooting area well. Then he allowed me to shoot in English, to get out of my comfort zone. So I settled on Lewis Island for a few months a Thriller. Eventually, it turned into a love story, after listening to a music cycle, the title of Soulsavers, Wise blood. Thus was born the idea of ​​this love story, the desire, the following scenario.
Is it the fact of being on this island that made the love story mature?
Ah, there was a fusion of landscapes, the fact that I was going to the Presbyterian masses with these women coming out in their hats, my meeting with a lot of people … and then listening to this work. Wise bloodLanding on these landscapes, I told myself that we had a whole scenery of romantic history, we were in a world Brontë sisters.
I really felt like I had to make a love story. And then I’m at the age where I can dare to try it! I tried my best to make the film more accessible than my previous films, to be a romance that anyone could bring. And at the same time, it stays in my cinema.
A lot of stuff in the movie?
At first, when I wrote a love story, I should not have played in it at all. I wrote this for another actor who does not look like me at all, for a very small, very poor, little Italian actor. He was not free, he did not know English or French, it would not be like that … so I was looking for someone with a physical appearance and I told my casting director “He does not have to be small, he can be big …” And then he tells me “Okay, forgive me, you have one under your elbow!” (Laughs)
The shadow of a lie was already very, very personal from the beginning, but with me in the role it became even more so. Yes, there are some very personal things in the film that are especially characteristic of the love story I had with my husband for 22 years. To some extent, my wife is a bit of a mile and a mile a bit of my wife.

I knew him from Game of Thrones. When I was working with my casting director Edinburgh, eShe introduced me to actors who could potentially play this role, a somewhat tough female role, but was not Michelle Fairle on the short list. When I saw his name in the general list, I thought “Yes, of course, Kathleen Stark! She is for this role!”
It is always difficult to come with actors in England, it is very procedural. There are a lot of filters, a lot more than here, there are agents, the casting director, all the filters … but when Michelle read the script, she called me pretty fast, we shot a video and a boom boom, that was it. Settled! That’s wonderful because it’s really my first choice, he really wanted it.
What do you remember about it “Royal Door Games”?
He is one of the outstanding characters of the TV series. He was framed in people’s heads when he was killed at a red wedding and it is still quite early in the story. He remains very relevant because he has such authority, this special voice and at the same time we feel that he is hyper sensual behind. She has a rough face and at the same time is very very beautiful. To me this is a really wonderful character, he embodied it in an absolute way. He was needed for my film.
