What are the best DC movies?

DC has long ensured its presence on the big screen. Since 1951, with the debut of Superman and the Mole Man, the company has invested in films and series to tell the adventures of the superheroes featured in its comics.

The films produced by Warner Bros. have experienced ups and downs over the years, and it wasn’t until 2013 that they began releasing interconnected films to create a more cohesive narrative within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The franchise has already won some awards for its production, however, critics have been harsh in rating the films.

10. Man of Steel (2013)

In tenth position we have Man of Steel, with Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, which presents the first Superman solo film within the DC Extended Universe. The production only reached a 56% according to critics on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.1 on IMDb and 55 on Metacritic. According to Box Office Mojo, Man of Steel grossed $668 million at the box office worldwide.

9.Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

The film in ninth place is Wonder Woman 1984. Having been released in the period in which Covid-19 was devastating the world, for North America the film was released simultaneously in theaters and on the streaming platform HBO Max. The film reached just 58 copies. % on Rotten Tomatoes, 5.4 on IMDb and 60 on Metacritic. According to Box Office Mojo, the box office grossed $169 million worldwide.

8. The Flash (2023)

The production of The Flash has been surrounded by controversy surrounding Ezra Miller, who has been arrested multiple times and faces a number of harassment charges, angering many fans. The film’s box office grossed only $268 million, which qualifies it as a failure as the film cost $220 million to produce, in addition to the $150 million spent on promotion. Despite this, The Flash earned a score of 63% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, 6.8 from IMDb, and 55 on Metacritic.

7.Aquaman (2018)

The first Aquaman film starring Jason Momoa, released in 2018, comes in at number seven on our list. Rotten Tomatoes critics rated the production at 66%, IMDb’s score was 6.8 and Metacritic’s was 55. Despite the unsatisfactory scores, Aquaman achieved a great return at the box office, grossing a total of $1.148 billion worldwide.

6. Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)

Director Zack Snyder’s three-and-a-half-hour version of Justice League ranks sixth. The film, released in 2017, did not meet with much success among the public who created campaigns and petitions for Warner Bros to release the director’s cut, but this version was only released in 2021, four years later, made available on HBO Max. Rotten Tomatoes, the production obtained a score of 72%, on IMDb the score was 7.9 and on Metacritic 54.

5. Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn and Her Fantabulous Emancipation (2020)

In fifth place we have Birds of Prey, the story of how Alerquina, played by Margot Robbie, breaks away from her abusive relationship with the Joker and begins to walk in his footsteps. The film received a score of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, 6.1 on IMDb and 60 on Metacritic, and grossed $205 million in theaters worldwide.

4. Blue Beetle (2023)

Launched in August this year, Besouro Azul stood out in Brazil for starring alongside Bruna Marquezine, the national actress famous for her productions in our country. To date the film has grossed $114 million, but it is still in theaters and this figure could increase. On Rotten Tomatoes it achieved a critical score of 78%, on IMDb 6.7 and on Metacritic 61.

3. Shazam! (2019)

In third place we have the first film Shazam!, released in 2019. The film was very well received by critics, reaching a score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.0 on IMDb and 71 on Metacritic. According to Box Office Mojo, the production also grossed $367 million, unlike its sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods was considered a box office failure with only $133 million.

2. Suicide Squad (2021)

The second place on our list belongs to 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Although its predecessor film, released in 2016, was harshly criticized and given a low score of 26% on the Rotten Tomatoes “toatrometer”, the film that released the sequel in 2021, it received much success among critics, reaching a score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 7.2 on IMDb and 72 on Metacritic, as well as becoming one of the best DC films.
