From September 13, 2023, Netflix offers its users the opportunity to watch new mini-series. Made in France called Tapie. As its name suggests, this fiction inspired by real events, according to Tristan Seguela (co-creator with Olivier Demangel), depicts the life and work of Bernard Tap.
Laurent Lafitte as Bernard Tapie
Comedie-Française actor and resident Laurent Lafitte was chosen to portray this powerful and evil public figure. At the microphone of AlloCiné, the actor also revealed that he did not want to meet the real hero of this story, who was already strongly opposed to this big project.
With us, who plays Josephine Japp, Fabrice Lucchin and Camille Chamou in Tapi also spoke about the reaction of Bernard Tapi’s family to the series. Indeed, the latter also came out against this production.
Laurent Lafitte states this strong objection: “It doesn’t worry me because I’m sure of our intentions, exactly. I know they are good. It’s only a matter of time and I hope that when they see the series, they will be a little calmer.“
“Our intentions are good”
“But at the same time, it’s normal, Puts Tapie’s headline act into perspective. It is true that it is also part of their lives that we are telling, especially Dominic’s. You get the impression that you’re abducted from your own life, but that’s what public service is all about…”
“And then, I believe one of Bernard Tapp’s sons has a biographical project on their father’s life…so they probably got the impression that our series was short-circuiting that project. I don’t know what their real fear is…“
“As far as I know, in any case, our intentions were good and I don’t think it’s the series’ fault at all. We are not into caricature or defamation at all“, asserts Laurent Lafitte. What is enough to appease people? Nothing less certain… Despite the controversy, the seven episodes that make up Tapie remain visible on Netflix.
