This movie was rated under 16 and almost ended up being banned under 18 due to its unrelenting violence. so ! It’s called Sadness and you might miss it when it hits theaters in the summer of 2022.
This is Rob Jabazi’s first feature film after four short films, some of which have been screened at festivals. You could say that the Canadian director chose to hit hard to make himself stand out as ‘Sadness’ pushes the boundaries by pouring hectoliters of hemoglobin on the screen!
If it’s not the most disturbing movie of all time, it still offers some real butchery! From its first quarter, the appearance of the disturbing character “Grandma” sets the tone: sadness will offer images that will remain etched in the memory, for better or for worse (and especially for worse!).
Inspired by the so-called “Category III” films, a classification reserved in Hong Kong for feature films considered particularly extreme and without taboos, “Sadness” offers mutilation, biting, punching, kicking, exhaustion: shocking images follow each other at a brutal pace. !

Our colleagues were questioned Parisian Upon the film’s first release, Victor Lamusiere, who is responsible for the film’s distribution, confided:
“This is a violent, brutal film that pushes the cursor a little further than we are used to seeing. But we believe that its violence is not gratuitous. It contains comments on man, on frustration… Its violence is very graphic and some people find it enjoyable. In the scenes where there’s blood, it’s almost comical!”
It’s not hard to see sadness as a metaphor, as the film’s murderous madness spreads like an epidemic, and several scenes take place in a hospital or on polluted public transport… The parallel with the recent pandemic emerges and allows. The film is delicious for a second reading.
It’s up to you, viewers, to make up your own mind! Sadness is currently available to OCS subscribers. For others, DVD-Blu-ray and VOD are also available.
