In this moment of grief, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank expresses sincere feelings of condolences to the family, friends and colleagues,” the BC said.
The president of Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban)Isaac Sidney also mourned the death of the former director. “Known for her excellence in team leadership, Tereza marked a new era for Brazilian banking supervision and played a fundamental role in the modernization of the sector’s regulation since the 1990s,” he said, noting that Febraban “extends wishes of solidarity and condolences to Grossi’s family and friends.”
The Brazilian Association of Banks (ABBC) released a statement expressing regret over the death of a career municipality employee. “Tereza Cristina Grossi Togni, pioneer of the national financial system, has become the first woman to hold a management position at the Central Bank, demonstrating her considerable competence and dedication to the sector”, reads a statement from the institution.
