The center forward has three goals for Bulgarian Ludogorets
Striker Rwan Cruz, on loan from Santos to Bulgaria’s Ludogorets, scored his first Conference League goal in the opening match of Group H against Slovakia’s Spartak Trnava.
Revealed by Peixe in 2022, the young striker has experienced difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic. Away from the pitch, Rwan worked as a bricklayer’s assistant and almost gave up football.
– I have overcome many things in my life, I remember in the beginning I was driving across town and I had no money to drive. Sometimes I asked the driver to let me get on the bus from behind, so I could train. When I was left without a club, I started working on the construction site with my father, so he didn’t have to pay the assistants. So I helped and worked happily, no problems. Then I still found time to train on the beach – said Menino da Vila.
TRAJECTORY
After having played in the youth teams of some Brazilian clubs, the promising striker jumped at the opportunity to complete a trial period at Santos. After establishing himself in the base, the player reached his maximum prominence in the Copinha dispute of 2022, where he ranked second and top scorer of the team, together with Lucas Barbosa, with six goals.
To try to gain more experience, Rwan was loaned to Vasco, but, without achieving the same success as at Peixe’s base, he looked for new opportunities and, with the move to Ludogorets, the center forward accumulated three goals and two assists in 10 games .
– Today I look back and smile about it. It was hard, but today I can live from football and, above all, I help my family as much as I can. Playing in continental leagues like the Conference League was a dream, but it soon became a goal. And today I am here, I won thanks to the sport I love and I have faith that many good things are yet to come – concluded the attacker.
