Who is the returning villain in ‘Jurassic World 3’ and why isn’t he played by the same actor?

The best kept secret of the new installment of the Jurassic franchise (Criticism of ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’) has not been a cameo, a new dinosaur or a surprise in the form of a post-credits scene; has been its villain, a very important character in the film who had not been advertised on posters or in promotional images of the film.

The antagonist of this new installment of the ‘Jurassic World’ saga is, nothing more and nothing less, Lewis Dogson.

The character made a brief appearance as a member of the ‘Jurassic Park’ cast 29 years ago, handing over Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) the iconic bottle of Barbasol brand shaving foam in which the computer scientist had to transport frozen embryos of dinosaurs stolen from Jurassic Park. That is to say, Lewis Dogson is the one to blame for the first park failing and the dinosaurs escaping, hiring Nedry to boycott the park’s security.

Almost 30 years later, Dogson has become the president of BioSyn, the rival company of John Hammond’s, InGen, thanks to the fact that he finally did recover the Barbasol boat. How the shaving foam spray came into his possession after Nedry lost it to dinosaurs is anyone’s guess.since until now the only clues we had about his whereabouts were in the video game ‘Jurassic Park: The Game‘, which focused its argument on a rescue team fighting for control of such valuable merchandise after finding it on Isla Nublar.

In the video game, the boat was totally destroyed under the claws of the T-Rex, so we assume that the movies do not consider it canon within the chronological order of the ‘Jurassic Park / World’ saga. The point is that Dogson managed to get hold of him, somehow.and has continued to tinker with genetics with dire results.

Lewis Dogson is presented to us as a mixture of Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, with a wardrobe very similar to that of the Apple and Pixar guru. He even has a Hyperloop like Musk. But the surprise does not stop there, since we discovered that the actor who plays him is not the original Cameron Thor, but the interpreter Campbell Scott.

This change is due to a rather lurid reason, and that is that Cameron Thor was sentenced in 2013 to 6 years in prison for sexual assault on a minor under 13 years of age, Jordyn Ladell. The prosecution brought up to 14 charges against him, including kidnapping, enticing minors to use drugs and sexual assault. The sentence was postponed until 2016, after several allegations and requests for dismissal, but it was finally ratified by the judge and Thor served time in a state prison.
