The update comes closer to Tesla’s official mission to create autonomous, general-purpose bipedal humanoid robots capable of performing “boring tasks”
A video of the humanoid robot from Tesla, Optimus, practicing his yoga skills, has impressed social media as the bot demonstrates balance and coordination. Posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Tesla and shared by the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, the video shows the two-legged robot performing various tasks, including sorting blocks by color and balancing on one leg.
OR Optimal he demonstrated flexibility and balance that would put many humans to shame while performing some basic yoga poses. “After a long day at work, it’s time to stretch!” says the caption of the video.
Tesla has been developing its robot for some time, but this latest update shows how quickly development has progressed after a disappointing debut in 2022.
As part of Tesla’s AI Day 2022, Elon Musk revealed an early prototype of Optimus, although it couldn’t do much more than walk on stage and wave, while a newer version of the bot had yet to be brought off stage from the robot. Team Tesla.

Apparently, the announcement of the robot’s new features was intended to increase the hiring effort for Tesla’s bot division, as the video was accompanied by an invitation to “join to help develop Optimus” and to “improve your yoga routine “.
A link to the Tesla jobs page on the Tesla Optimus profile shows ads for nearly 100 available positions focused on robot development.
The robot also features impressive software advancements over previous updates, as the official Tesla Optimus account announced that it can now “self-calibrate” using only vision and “joint position encoders.”
This means the robot can see where its arms and legs are in space, learning how to perform tasks precisely in real time. Optimus puts this calibration into practice, separating the colored blocks into different trays, working quickly even when a researcher removes the blocks from in front of him.
This kind of simple classification is a key step toward Tesla’s official mission to create an “autonomous, general-purpose, bipedal humanoid robot capable of performing unsafe, repetitive, or tedious tasks,” such as factory work.
