With 322 thousand pick-ups sold, the Brazilian market is second only to those of the United States, Thailand and Canada; see the 7 best global pickup trucks
Brazil is the fourth largest pick-up market in the world and even surpasses China, which is the fifth. The information comes from a study by The world of the Fiat Group and was published on Instagram by the profile Analysis of the automotive sector in the brilliant work of Felipe Munhoz.
According to the publication, global pickup truck sales topped 5.65 million units in 2022. Despite thriving, the segment saw a decline of 100,000 units compared to 2021.
Of this total, the United States and Canada together account for more than 3 million – and the vast majority come from the United States at 2.69 million. Brazil sells 322 thousand units/year and has become an oasis of profits for medium and large pick-ups.

The Car Industry Analysis infographic is rich in detail and outlines the global pickup segment. According to the publication, Ford leads the global ranking with 1.18 million units, followed by GM with 1.08 million and Toyota with 1.03 million. Stellantis completes the top 5 with 844 thousand and Isuzu with 330 thousand.

The best-selling pick-ups in the world are Midsize (the medium size of the Toyota Hilux) with 50%. Then come the Large (Large like the Ford F-150) with 29%, the Full Size (Full Size like the Ram 3500) with 13%, the Compact (the size of the Fiat Toro) with 4% and the Small (Small like the Volkswagen Saveiro) with 4%.
It’s worth mentioning that Toyota’s Hilux is the best-selling pickup in the world, even surpassing Ford’s F-150.
Felipe Munhoz’s infographics in the Car Industry Analysys profile also reveal that three African countries have the highest share of pickup trucks in the domestic market: Malawi with 53%, Kenya with 50% and Uganda with 38%.
