Eight years after The Mentalist ended, Simon Baker is back in action and he’s unrecognizable!

He didn’t completely disappear from the radar after Mentalist ended, but let’s face it, Simon Baker hasn’t been in the news since. This is probably the end of the desert crossing for the Australian actor, who will undergo a complete transformation for his next film.

The actress completely surprised her fans by revealing her new look in Aussie filmmaker Ivan Sen’s new film, Limbo. In the film’s trailer (above), which was presented in official selection at the recent Berlinale, Simon Baker appears with short hair, a growing beard and tattoos.

The look is similar to Walter White from Breaking Bad, although the character he plays doesn’t take the same direction at all.

The film, shot entirely in black and white, tells the story of Travis Hurley, played by Simon Baker, who arrives in a small town in the Australian outback to investigate the unsolved murder of an Aboriginal woman twenty years ago.

Connecting with the victim’s family, Travis discovers a number of difficult truths that highlight the complexities of the injustices faced by Aboriginal people.

How did he get into the skin of his character?

in the interview ColliderThe actor talked about the process of working on the shooting of this film. He didn’t engage in the kind of in-depth research that other actors sometimes do. However, he explained that the process was “Different every time” for him.

For Limbaugh, getting into the skin of his character required “Three thousand five hundred kilometers from Sydney to where we were filming. I have an old VW Transporter. It was my trailer, I took it and camped on the road“.

While research wasn’t necessarily part of Baker’s method, he used the time in his trailer to think about the character and how he’s evolved since the pre-production stages.

Simon Baker in Limbo

“I had been thinking about the character for about a year when Ivan and I started talking about the project. Then it got to a point where we were there one day in pre-production and Ivan took the camera.

We did hair, make-up and wardrobe, he took the camera and we went to one of the filming locations which was right in the city. Everything was done on the spot. Nothing is built and almost nothing is worn.”

He said that once the camera started rolling, “Something happened and the whole physical nature of the character fell into place. Then it’s just a matter of maintaining and trusting that“.

Limbo is available in France from October 1 on Filmo.
