Star Wars: Four members of one family appear in the saga!

In the Skywalker family we knew the father (Anakin), the son (Luke), the grandson (Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren) and even a spiritual daughter (Rey)…but another family saw their story throughout Star Wars. A saga initiated by George Lucas.

Known for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels (Episodes I – II – III), Ewan McGregor is not the first member of his family to be in the franchise. Prior to that, his maternal uncle Dennis Lawson played rebel pilot Wedge Antilles in the original trilogy.

This iconic character of the saga also reappeared in the cinema for the ninth film The Rise of Skywalker, but also in the voice cast of an episode of the animated series Star Wars Visions!

Therefore, the power is strong in the Lawson/McGregor family, especially since relatives of the Scottish actor also appeared in the saga. In the spin-off series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ewan McGregor’s daughter – Esther-Rose McGregor – was seen in an eye-catching scene as a pink-haired drug addict.

Even more recently, Mary Elizabeth Winstead – Ewan McGregor’s wife – got one of the main roles in the TV series Ahsoka. The American actress plays rebel general Hera Syndula, a role that required several hours of make-up a day, making her unrecognizable to the public.

Note that even though he’s not in any of the Star Wars movies or series, Ewan McGregor’s brother still maintains an indirect connection to the franchise. A British Air Force pilot, the latter chose the number… Obi-Two as his flight reference!

Other families reunited in the Star Wars universe

Ewan McGregor isn’t the only person from the saga to welcome members of his family to Star Wars episodes. Thus, Liam Neeson saw his son Michael play Qui-Gon Jinn in scenes from the animated series Tales of the Jedi, where the Jedi appears young.

Mark Hamill’s three children also played resistance fighters together in The Last Jedi (ironically, this is the episode in the saga that Luke Skywalker’s translator holds least dear).

Saga creator George Lucas stars as Galactic Republic ally Notluvsky Papanoida in Revenge of the Sith. Next to him in this scene is his own daughter, Kathy Lucas, who is also blue.

While appearing in various roles in the saga (he is one of Anakin Skywalker’s friends in The Phantom Menace on Tatooine), the latter was also credited as a screenwriter for about fifteen episodes of the animated series. The Clone Wars!
